CRUNCHING/CRUSHING
Crunching is an efficient method of remove concrete without noise, vibration or water. Unlike bursting there is no requirement for pre-drilled holes.
Hydraulically powered by a petrol, diesel or electric power pack, the cruncher works by positioning the “jaws” over an open or free edge of the structure to be removed (if there is not an existing open/free edge, one can be made by either utilizing one of the drilling or sawing methods). When the pressure is applied the “jaws” come together and crush the structure, this process is repeated until the whole structure is removed.
The advantages of using this method are that the resulting debris is small, no noise, and no water. Due to the non percussive method structural integrity is maintained.
